This Lent Devotions at St. Augustine’s provided an opportunity for our parish community to come together to pray for particular intentions in the lead-up to Easter. As well as Stations of the Cross each Friday at 7.30pm, our Solemn Vespers and Benediction each Sunday evening at 5.30 was particularly well supported this year, especially by many of our children and young altar-servers. Each week we were accompanied by Greg on the organ and many of our choir members, who led the music beautifully.
On the last Sunday of Lent (Palm/Passion Sunday) the devotions attracted a dozen servers and many of our children took part in the special entrance procession (all with palms in hand!) On this occasion our prayer intention was for all our families and young people at St. Augustine’s; that they would remain close to the Lord, to His Church and to each other. Many of our older parishioners also noted how nice it was to see our youngsters spending time kneeing before the Blessed Sacrament in silent prayer. Please God this practice will continue to grow in our parish.
