feature_content_15It is with heavy hearts that we prepare to say goodbye to our dear De La Salle Brothers with the closing of their community, the last in Scotland, at the start of August. Since 1974 many Bothers have served our community with distinction, in a variety of different works and ministries.

With such long years of faithful service to the people of Coatbridge it seems only right that we should, as a parish, formally mark the departure of this esteemed community, which currently comprises of Brother Levinas and Brother Terrance.

_74514474_74514473Our new Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Joseph Toal, will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving this coming Saturday 26th July at 6.30pm (Vigil Mass) in St. Augustine’s. This is also the first time Bishop Toal has made a pastoral visit to our parish since the beginning of his ministry as Bishop of Motherwell.

Conscious that we have very little time to publicise this Mass we would ask all our parishioners to share this information with others. The quick sale of the Brothers’ house means the brothers will be leaving on 4th August, much sooner than anticipated. Nonetheless, we hope many parishioners will make the effort to attend this special Mass, even if the Vigil is not your regular Mass.

There will be a buffet reception in the Parochial Hall immediately after the Mass. All are welcome to attend this Mass of Thanksgiving and to show our prayerful gratitude for our Brothers, both past and present.
